Animoca Brands Japan is preparing to unveil a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection based on the iconic anime franchise, Ghost in the Shell. This collection will be launched on the Ethereum network, starting from October 31, 2024.

The Ghost in the Shell NFT collection will feature 500 unique NFTs, each representing characters from the beloved 1995 anime film, which is an adaptation of the original 1989 manga series by Masamune Shirow.

NFT Sales and Trading Platform Details

The NFTs will be available on Animoca Brands Japan’s NFT trading platform, SORAH, with sales commencing at 12:00 JST on the launch date. The sales will utilize a lottery model along with a first-come-first-served approach through an Allow List, granting priority purchase rights to select users.

Each NFT will be priced at 0.018 ETH, approximately $45.16, adhering to the ERC-721 NFT standard. This collection marks the inaugural release in the “AnimeTraits” series, which aims to collaborate with various popular anime and manga franchises in future NFT offerings.

Customization and Merchandise Options

Animoca Brands has announced that owners of these NFTs will have customization options available. Additionally, users who own NFTs from the Mocaverse, CoolCats, and San FranTokyo collections will also benefit from these features.

Merchandise featuring customized costume images will be available for purchase on the AnimeTraits website, further enhancing the interactive experience for collectors.

Originally serialized in 1989, Ghost in the Shell is a renowned Japanese cyberpunk manga series by Masamune Shirow. The franchise has seen numerous adaptations, with the 1995 film directed by Mamoru Oshii being particularly influential. The story is set in 2029 in New Port City and follows cyborg public-security agent Motoko Kusanagi as she pursues a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master.
